Our monthly field trip will be hosted by the Mitsubishi Plant on HWY 18. We will meet at 9:00AM in the museum parking lot, located at 800 Greenway, Big Bear City and caravan down to the cement plant. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring some water. It will be a great tour.
After the tour, for those who would like to go to lunch, we will be going to the China House, located in Lucerne, on Highway 247 (across from the Union 76 Gas Station), on the north side of the street.
At the Big Bear Valley Historical Society’s next meeting, Thursday, October 12th, we will be treated to an old Red Ryder Radio Show Episode from March 22, 1949, “Roaring River Renegades.” It will be a time to remember (or imagine) what it was like when the family would gather around the radio to hear the latest installment of their favorite show. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and open to the whole community.
Admission is FREE! Great refreshments,
AND an Opportunity Drawing!
Then the next day (Friday, October 13th ), we will have our field trip, which will be our traditional October trip to the Mt. Doble Cemetery. Please meet at the Museum parking lot at 6 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., we will caravan andcarpool over to the cemetery site.
Once we park at the bottom of the Mt Doble Cemetery area, we will have to hike up a short dirt path. AND…Since it will be kinda dark, don’t worry about the walk up, as there will be lights along that dirt path to the Cemetery.
Our spooky story will be “Mystery of the Murder in Rattlesnake Gulch ~ The Real Story.” Remember it can be very chilly this time of year, so dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes, bring a flashlight, a folding chair, and a spooky story to share w/others.
