Last month Richard Graham gave a presentation on the history of the Captains Anchorage. The original restaurant was known as the Sportsman’s Tavern in 1947. Over the years, employee and patrons alike have experienced various unexplainable actions and sightings. Exploding liquor bottles, doors that shut on their own, chairs that have moved are just a few to mention.
Some say that it was a crooked bookkeeper that killed himself; others say that Andy Devine, one of the original owners had him killed. Who are the men in this photograph and are they related to the ghost? Is one of them the ghost?
Paranormal experts have recorded some of this phenomenon and made their statement. At the May 11th meeting of the Big Bear Valley Historical Society, held at the Discovery Center, Mr. Graham will present his findings. Meeting starts at 7:00 pm. Make sure you get there before dark or else…….
