Free Locals Day at the Museum
To help the Big Bear Valley Historical Society celebrate our 50th anniversary on our last day of the 2017 season, join us for Locals day on Sunday, September 10th at the Big Bear History Museum.
Our hours are 10am to 4pm. We are located at 800-B Greenway Dr., in Big Bear City. Free admission for locals of all ages, and children will receive a free gift as well. Most of our gift shop and bookstore inventory will be discounted up to 20%. Enjoy a bottle of Sarsaparilla or Apple Beer for just a buck.
At 2pm, we will have a demonstration of our 1800’s era stamp mill. One of only two working in all of California. See how the miners of yesteryear crushed ore to get to the gold. Along with our seven historical buildings from as far back as 1875 filled with interesting artifacts, we have free gold panning for everyone, and a working blacksmith shop. Watch them make their famous Pirate Peanut Butter knife.
We were voted BEST Big Bear Natural/Cultural Attraction by Grizzly readers. This is our way of saying Thank You Big Bear. So please join us for some fun before we close up for the winter. It will surely be educational.
